A message received from the carrier this morning as follows:
"We would like to offer you an update on the outbreak of COVID-19 and the impact to Hamburg Süd operations in the United States and Canada. As the COVID-19 situation continues to unfold, Hamburg Süd will continue to deliver the high quality service you are accustomed to. Our offices in the United States and Canada (except Philadelphia, PA), will remain open, although with reduced staffing depending on the location. The Philadelphia office will be closed following an order from the Governor of Pennsylvania announcing a state-wide shutdown for most businesses until March 27, 2020. We are in the process of transferring operations to other Hamburg Süd offices in the U.S.
On the operational side, vessel and terminal operations continue to operate normally, but we are seeing some terminal closures, primarily in Los Angeles and Seattle, due to decreased throughput. All depots and warehouses are reporting normal operations. Additionally, we are not having any reported issues with trucking capacity. However, we are continuing to see some equipment supply issues due to the decreased imports over the last months from the COVID-19 impact in Asia.
We are in unprecedented times. With the ongoing spread of COVID-19 and the incredible speed at which things are changing around the world, we are continually adapting our operation to ensure we are meeting your needs and at the same time safeguarding the health and safety of our team members and customers. We appreciate your loyalty and understanding."
We will continue to update any changes, please continue to check back as often as possible.
